Single Audits

The federal government may audit not-for-profits, state and local governments, or universities, to ensure the financial and compliance procedures are being executed in accordance with the federal government standards.

Single Audits, also called OMB A-133 Audits, are used to provide assurance to the U.S. federal government that not-for-profit and government organizations using federal funds are doing so accordance with federal standards and best practices.

Single Audits must be performed by an independent auditor. These audits are extensive and are best performed by an auditor or audit team with experience and specialization in not-for-profits and Single Audits.
