In loving memory1943 - 2017

74, of Indian Shores, passed away peacefully February 13, 2017, surrounded by his beloved wife and dear friends.

Cesar was born in Tampa. Following high school, he graduated from USF College of Business Administration with a BA degree and then became a Certified Public Accountant. In March, 1983, he started his own firm which ultimately became the firm of Rivero, Gordimer & Co. The firm, his partners and employees were always his greatest source of pride and accomplishment.

Cesar enjoyed old black and white movies, sports, golf, and especially the competing rounds against his wife at Belleair Golf & CC. He supported the USF Bulls, having served as President of the Alumni Association.

His Legacy

Cesar J. Rivero has practiced public accounting for over 35 years in the west coast of Florida. Prior to establishing the firm of Rivero, Gordimer & Company, Mr. Rivero was the partner-in-charge of the Tampa office of the seventh largest international accounting firm in the United States. Mr. Rivero remains active and is a valuable resource with emphasis on succession planning, litigation support and valuations of privately held corporations, partnership, and LLC and special projects.

Mr. Rivero has served as account administrator of prior audits and consulting engagements involving not-for-profit and governmental entities including the Tampa Port Authority, the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority, Tampa Bay International Terminals, Inc. and Hillsborough County. Additionally, Mr. Rivero has testified numerous times as an expert witness in accounting matters in federal, state, county, criminal, civil and family courts.

Although Mr. Rivero had served as the shareholder-in-charge in most of the Firm’s largest audit engagements, his emphasis has been on “Management Information and Analysis Systems.” This emphasis has primarily been stressed in order to provide efficient and meaningful information to assist management in their operational decision making process.

Mr. Rivero is a graduate of the University of South Florida and a charter member of the National Accounting Fraternity of Beta Alpha Psi. Mr. Rivero has been recognized as an expert in accounting and auditing matters by the Federal Bankruptcy and Criminal Courts and State of Florida Criminal, Civil, and Family courts. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is very active in the Tampa Bay community. Mr. Rivero formerly served on Northstar Bank and Holding Company Board of Directors. He has also served on the Grievance Committee for the 13th Judicial System, the concession panel of the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority, on the Board of Trustees of the City of Tampa General Employees Pension Fund, National Alumni President of the University of South Florida, on the Board of Directors and past President of Temple Terrace Golf and Country Club and various other social clubs and/or organizations. The Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives appointed Mr. Rivero to the Florida Commission for the Transportation Disadvantaged.
