TAMPA, Fla. (March 14, 2023)—Rivero, Gordimer & Company is excited to announce the celebration of its 40th year providing outstanding services to its clients in the Tampa Bay area and beyond.

“We are proud and humbled to have been serving clients for 40 years, and that we continue to grow at a solid pace,” said Herman Lazzara, CPA and Managing Shareholder, Rivero, Gordimer & Company. “We are anxious to see what the next 40 years will bring!”

The firm was established by Cesar J. Rivero and Richard B. Gordimer in 1983. Its first office was located at 711 N. Florida Avenue, above the original location of The Hub, and it had 5 employees at the time. Three years later the firm moved to the Airport Executive Center on Lois Avenue and surpassed $1 million in revenues. Lazzara became a partner in 1991, Marc D. Sasser (now Of Counsel) in 1992, and Lazzara’s brother, Sam Lazzara, in 1997. By 2006, the firm had more than 30 employees and $5 million in revenues.

In 2007, the firm named Stephen G. Douglas and Michael E. Helton partners. In 2008, the firm moved to its current location in downtown Tampa at One Tampa City Center, 201 N. Franklin Street, where it occupies the 26th floor. By 2015, both founding partners had retired, and Herman Lazzara was named Managing Partner. The following year, Jonathan E. Stein, James K. O’Connor, and Kevin R. Bass joined the partner group. Partners David M. Bohnsack and Julie A. Davis were named in 2020 and 2022, respectively.

Today, the firm has nine partners, 65 employees (and growing), and more than $13 million in revenues. It is the exclusive member of Nonprofit CPAs for the Tampa Bay region, has been named a Tampa Bay Business Journal Best Place to Work and One Tampa Bay Honoree, and was awarded the Tampa Bay Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year (2018).

The firm currently has four distinct practice areas serving clients across several industries: audit and assurance, taxation, client accounting services, and valuation and advisory, the latter being added in 2018 as the Valuation and Advisory Service Group.

It has also recently hired its first chief operating officer. This new position, led by J.P. DuBuque, will be providing leadership and strategic vision in the areas of human resources, information technology, and operational administration, among others, to enhance a best-in-class culture, alliances, and processes for each team to serve its clients as the firm continues to grow.

Several celebratory events are being planned for the year in recognition of this significant anniversary. The first—an anniversary edition of the firm’s logo—has been launched and will appear on social media and in special publications.
